June 4, 1949 - November 18, 2018
BECKETT, Bill J., age 69, of Waynesville, finished a long battle with cancer and passed away peacefully on Sunday November 18, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton. Bill graduated from Clinton Massie High School in 1967, served in the U.S. Army in Germany, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wilmington College. He worked most of his life in agriculture at the family run Victory Vale Farms. He also worked 13 years at Clinton Massie Schools, teaching 4th grade, science, and health. He attended CrossView Christian Church and participated in a Sunday School class taught by Steve Williamson for 31 years. Somewhat reserved with a dry sense of humor, he was a good friend to many. The happiest times of his life were those working on the family farm with his brother Ben and nephew Josh, and dog Silk. He also enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds, visiting Spring Training in both Florida and Arizona, collecting fact books, reading sports magazines, driving his truck, visiting Amish country, sharing family dinners, and eating at Spillway Lodge. Over the years he cherished the many outings to Kings Island with his kids; visits with family in Texas and California; a vacation with his family and brother Bob to Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and National Parks in Utah; and trips to Gatlinburg with church friends, Hawaii, Florida, and Thailand for his son’s wedding. He was preceded in death by his parents Craig and Marguerite Beckett, granny Stella Losh, and Aunt Grace. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna; two sons Brad (Brio) Beckett and Brett Beckett; grandson Braden Beckett; three brothers James (Poochie) Beckett, and triplet brothers Bob Beckett and Ben (Diana) Beckett; and several loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family will receive friends 10 AM - 12 PM Wed. Nov. 21 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Wed. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Ohio Hospice of Dayton or Missionaries Tom and Teresa Elkins. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
