Doreen Anne Josephine Stenger

June 18, 1963 - July 9, 2020

STENGER, Doreen Anne Josephine, age 57, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Bethesda North Hospital. Doreen earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Cincinnati and worked as a special needs teacher for some time following graduation. She was born to be a life-long learner, always inquisitive and sought to know “why”. Over the years, she worked as a writer, artist, and photographer. Driven, non-judgmental, kind, creative, spiritual, and an inspiration for others, Doreen persevered all her life even though she was often challenged with health issues. She always strived to achieve her personal best in whatever she set out to accomplish, challenging herself to achieve beyond her own expectations. She received great satisfaction in teaching practical skills so that others could be independent. Her mission on Earth was to create, bring joy, and hope to others through her create work. In addition, Doreen experienced great joy in helping others find and express their own creativity. As a truth-seeker, she always sought to know the truth and to speak the truth. She was known to stand up for what was right, especially when others were maligned. She loved and was loved, tried to accept without judgement, and found solace, inspiration, and joy in nature. She was outgoing, yet craved contemplative solitude. Perhaps she will be remembered most by a quote from Doreen herself, “My faith in God’s light and love compelled me to keep on trying and to not give in or to give up!” She was preceded in death by her father Theodore Rape. She is survived by her mother Audrey Rape; four sisters Donna Sharpe, Dianne Rahe, Denise Hammon, and Deborah Wilhelm; one brother Daniel Rape; niece Sarah (Allen) Cousett; nephew Christopher Allen Tekulve; and her uncle Gerald Rape. Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, the family is planning a service to celebrate Doreen’s life in the near future. Additional information will be available when the arrangements have been finalized. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and/or the Cancer Support Community in Blue Ash. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
