Dwight L. Barnes

November 3, 1960 - June 21, 2017

BARNES, Dwight L. Jr., age 55, of Waynesville and formerly of Columbus, passed away on a Wednesday June 21, 2017 at Hospice of Butler/Warren County. Dwight worked as a master electrician for the past 38 years, and most recently in the Quaker Heights Care Community building. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) #683 in Columbus and a patron at the World Harvest Church. Better known as Skip, a quiet and humble man with an unlimited versatile practical approach to projects, thinking through each step to its ultimate completion before ever lifting a finger. With endless diligence and undivided focus once engaged in a job, time would stand still as he would move towards the finished entity of a perfected application. Dwight worked as if his job was a hobby and quality in his career was his collection. His unmatched work ethic inspired his coworkers in a way to experience a generation of servicemen before power tools like a living era of influence. Outside of work he entertained himself playing the guitar, scuba diving, sailing, hiking, and he loved to read books by Dean Koontz and Stephen King novels. Dwight has said “Your life is yours, each moment experienced by you is yours, so own it”. A philosophy Skip would often implement was “the value of a conversation comes from how well others are listening and the actions that follow”. He was preceded in death by his dad Dwight L. Barnes Sr. and two brothers Jack and Bob. He is survived by his son Dwight L. Barnes III; daughters Seaira Barnes and Danielle (Dominic) D'Andre; grandson Louie D'Andre; his mother Peggy Flesher; four sisters Sherri Irwin, Linda Norris, Crystal, and Shelly; his nieces Jamie Irwin, Angel, Nicki, Jacklyn, and best friends Keith Musgrave, Justin Lamb, Jacob Levi, Kyle O’Clarke Woody, and Drew. Celebration of life gathering will be 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm Thurs., July 20 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Celebration of life service will immediately follow the gathering at 6:30 pm Thurs. at the funeral home. "Wise men find all human activities simple, simply for they would not be wise!"
