Edward Arnold Andres, Jr

August 30, 1929 - May 21, 2016

ANDRES Jr., EDWARD A., age 86, passed away Sat. May 21, 2016. Born in Cleveland Aug. 30, 1929 to Edward A. Sr. and Frances Andres. His family moved to Dayton in 1936. He graduated from Stivers High School in 1947; received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Case Institute of Technology in 1951 and later a Master’s in Business Administration from Ohio State. After serving in the army from1954 to 1956 he worked as Chief Systems Engineer at WPAFB for 31 years. He was married to Adah (neé Huffer) for 63 years. He has two children Kurt (April) Andres living in TX and Claudia (David) Carroll; two grandchildren Parker and Jordan Carroll; one sister Lois Golloway; and two nieces Gale and Wendy living in FL. His family moved to Waynesville in 1962, bought an historic home and spent 30 years restoring it, successfully petitioned to have it listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The home was built by John Satterthwaite co-owner of the Accommodation Stagecoach Line. Ed and his wife co-authored a history of the stage coach line. He was also on the Waynesville committee for the Scenic Byway and for preserving the Old Lockup (Jail/ Firehouse) one of only two known remaining in Southwest Ohio. He had many interests- he was an active Lions Club member for 45 years, served as Governor of Ohio’s Lions District 13 H in 1982-1983; received a Melvin Jones Award. He was a member of Waynesville United Methodist Church for 54 years, where he served as Chairman of the Administrative Board, youth leader, and served as a choir member. He was chosen citizen of the year in 2000. Other interests included collecting trains from the age of 7, remote controlled planes, sports, classical music, and spending time with family. In 2015, he and Adah moved to Lexington, KY to be near Claudia’s family. A memorial service will be at 2 pm Sat. July 16 at Waynesville United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville is serving the family.
