Faye Racke

June 22, 1941 - November 30, 2015

Faye Racke, of Alexandria, Kentucky, went to Heaven on November 30, 2015, surrounded by loving members of her family. Faye fought a long and courageous battle against frontal temporal lobe dementia. She was born June 22, 1941 in Berry, Kentucky. She married Jerry Racke in 1962 in Alexandria, Kentucky. They were married until he passed away in March 2005. Faye received college degrees from Eastern Kentucky University and Xavier University, that led to teaching and administrative careers at Bishop Brossart School and Campbell County High School. She retired as Principal of Campbell County High School in 1992. Faye’s most important passion was her family. Nothing pleased her more than spending time with her mother, siblings, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Faye travelled from Morehead to Laguna Beach to watch her nieces and nephews in their tennis, golf, baseball games, or any activity they pursued. She was the family’s undisputed champion scrabble player, and her home was the site of many family dinners and celebrations. Faye’s other passion was her prized Tennessee walking horses, and she travelled around the country with her husband competing in field trials. Faye and Jerry had the world champion bird dog in 2000, and their barn was filled with their many dogs and horses. Faye was well known in Alexandria for her joy and willingness to teach children how to ride horses. Faye frequently traveled with Jerry to trap shooting venues and competitions. They also drove their horses with a wagon in Alexandria parades. Faye loved the theater and her many visits to Play House in the Park. She also enjoyed travelling. She visited many states and countries with friends and family members. Faye was preceded in death by her parents Larry and Ruby Kohls, and her husband of 42 years. She is survived by her loving sister Pam (Tom) Isaacs, who served as her caregiver for many years; her special nieces and nephew Stephanie (Evan) McDole, Tammi Isaacs, and Tommy Isaacs; two sisters Deanie (Mike) Brown and Marilyn (Jeff) McGowan; two brothers Gary (Barb) Kohls and Mike (Michelle) Kohls; and many nieces and nephews, who were spoiled and deeply loved by their Aunt Faye. Faye’s family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Quaker Heights Care Community and Crossroads Hospice in Waynesville, Ohio, for their service to Faye through her illness. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 1 N Jefferson St., Alexandria, Kentucky 41001. The service will be led by Pastor Rev. Chad R. Abbott. Friends and family are invited to remain at the church for lunch after the service. A private burial service will be conducted later in the day at Pythian Grove Cemetery in Berry, Kentucky. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Faye’s honor to the Employee Assistance Fund at Quaker Heights Care Community in Waynesville, Ohio, Campbell County High School in Alexandria, Kentucky, or to any organization related to research of dementia.
