Irma I. Cantrell
May 11, 1929 - April 6, 2020
CANTRELL, Irma I., age 90, of Waynesville and formerly of Medway, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 6, 2020 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. Irma retired from Fairborn City Schools in 1997 after 20 years of service. She was a faithful member of the First Church of Christ in Fairborn. Sweet, caring, and loving, Irma was also quick-witted and stubborn in a good way. She greatly enjoyed volunteering at her church, crossword puzzles, watching the birds outside, and game shows on television. She collected everything her grandchildren gave or made her, along with angels and other trinkets. Over the years, it was always important to travel back home to Paintsville, Kentucky to visit friends and family who still lived down there. Among many things, she will be remembered for her delicious apple stack cake and lemon cake that she often made during the family get togethers. She was preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Ethel Stambaugh; four brothers Jim Ed, Bob, Bill, and Kenneth Stambaugh; and two sisters Peggy Stambaugh and Pat Shropshire. She is survived by three children Karen (Mark) Conte, Bill Cantrell, and Stephanie (Steve) Wise; six grandchildren Brian Conte, Bradley Conte, Lisa May, Megan Wise, Sarah Wise, and Breanna Wise; sister-in-law Dot Strambaugh; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be scheduled later this summer. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
