Marsha Reid Whitlock

May 18, 1953 - January 30, 2022

Marsha Reid Whitlock, age 68 of Waynesville, Ohio passed away January 30, 2022 with her husband at her side, after a long illness. Beloved wife of 19 years to Steven Whitlock. Stepmother to: Shawndra Moody and Megan Whitlock. Proud Grandmother to: Jayden, Madisyn, Emma, Carsen and Camrynn. Sister-in-law to: Patricia Colen, Morris (Bobbi) Whitlock, Randall Whitlock and David (Martha) Whitlock. Marsha grew up with her cousins, Michael and Dean Brown, Carol Costello, and her great friends, the Kelly brothers. Marsha was adopted as an infant and raised by her wonderful parents, Elizabeth and Marshall Reid in Alexandria, Virginia, both now deceased. Marsha had a lifelong passion to connect with her birth family and spent more than two years discovering her North Carolina roots. She learned the identity of her birth mother, Wanda Elberta (Apple) Ross (deceased) and even forged a new relationship with her sister, Melinda (Ross) Mortimer (deceased), her brother-in-law David Mortimer and niece Amy (Mortimer) Carter of Franklinton, North Carolina. Marsha worked as a Deputy Clerk and Bookkeeper before retiring and staying home to be a housewife. She loved the legal world and staying current on issues. She kept her mind sharp by watching Jeopardy, playing Words with Friends, and reading books by her favorite author. She loved all of God’s creatures and was happiest relaxing on her deck with Steve watching wildlife and birds- Owls were her favorite. Marsha loved their bountiful garden and was passionate about leaving the earth better than she found it. She loved canning and freezing their garden vegetables and shared graciously with friends and family. Marsha attended Saint Francis Episcopal Church in Springboro, Ohio. Friends and family will be invited to a service to pay their respects at a springtime celebration of Marsha’s life. The family will receive friends 1 - 2 PM Saturday, May 14, at St. Francis Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, May 14, at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family.
