Ralph Peters

PETERS, Ralph, of Waynesville was born Oct 31, 1919 in Island City, KY. Ralph passed away at Quaker Heights on Apr 19, 2013 at the age of 93. He was a decorated B-17 pilot in WWII awarded the air medal and purple heart for his combat flights with the Army Air Corp. On his 9th mission he crash landed his disabled B-17 in order to save his unconscious co-pilot and was taken as a POW. Following the war, his camp was liberated and he returned to Waynesville where he worked at NCR for 35 years. Ralph is survived by two sons, Tom (Jan) and Jerry (Cathy) Peters, his sister Bonnie Phillips, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Pauline, his father Emery, mother Nancy, brothers William, Forrest and Earl Peters, sisters Mae and Janet Peters, Irene Doane and Marceline McKinney. "Grandpa Peters" loved to garden and was famous for his awesome tomatoes! He truly was one of "America's greatest generation" and will forever be missed.
