April 19, 1943 - March 12, 2020
ARTHUR, Ronald “Pops” L., age 76, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at his residence. Ron was a Vietnam era Air Force veteran. He worked nearly 20 years for Guaranteed Corrosion Control in East Chicago, Indiana and retired from Overnight Transportation in Dayton after more than 10 years of service. Fiesty, funny, and often stubborn, Ronald was the kind of guy who told it like it was and did it his way. He was quite the character and was known to joke around with people on a regular basis. He greatly enjoyed drag racing and circle track racing, mainly for side bets and for fun. He also loved watching western movies, fiddling around in his garage, and collecting flashlights and pocket knives. He had an appreciation for older Corvettes and owned several over the years, most recently a black ’91. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy, in 2007; his parents Amos and Gladys Arthur; and two brothers Lonnie and Ottis Arthur. He is survived by his daughter Sherry Ball; son Rodney (Jennifer) Arthur; seven grandchildren Robert Ball, Kathleen Arthur, Sherry Arthur, Christa (Joey) Ross, Ronnie Arthur, Samantha Trent, and Brandon Thames; 10 great grandchildren Matthew, Lucien, Theo, Ryan, Heidi, Joey, Jordan, Jackson, Riley, and Lucas; two sisters Brenda Johnson and Karen (Raymond) Jackson; and sister-in-law Patsy Arthur. The family will receive friends 4-6 PM Sunday, March 15 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A second visitation will be held 6-8 PM Monday, March 16 followed by a funeral service 1 PM Tuesday at Herald & Steward & Halsey Funeral Home in West Liberty, Kentucky. Burial will be in Elijah Smith Cemetery in Kentucky. Bobby Smith will be officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Robert Ball, Roy Keeton, Tommy Keeton, Jon Keeton, Todd Keeton, Scotty Stevens, Mikey Stevens, and Robert Eldridge. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
