William Marion Hoblit

September 8, 1925 - May 9, 2014

HOBLIT, William Marion, 88, of Waynesville passed away peacefully on Fri. May 9, 2014. Born in Bellbrook on Sept. 8, 1925, he was the son of the late Forest L. and Mary Swigart Hoblit. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Swiney Hoblit who passed away Feb. 11, 2000 and his sisters, Elizabeth Zink, Evelyn Chambers and Mary Jane Mathews. He is survived by his sister, Georgianna (John) Pyles; three daughters, Sheila (Dennis) Walton, Billie (Tom) Neeley and Brenda Lamb; four grandchildren, Michele (Robert) Bowland, John (Paula) Isaacs, Andy Lamb and Hannah (James) Lawson; five great grandchildren, Kyle Bowland, Kassidy Vaughn and Zoey, Noah and Taylor Lawson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joining the Navy in Sept., 1942, he served in the Pacific during WWII as 1st Class Cook until 1948. He was employed by Miami Maid Bread of Dayton for 23 years and General Motors Frigidaire for 17 years. He was a great cook and baker and enjoyed gardening, fishing and attending his annual Naval Reunions. He was an avid college sports fan-basketball and football. In his late 70's, early 80's, he looked and portrayed the part of Santa Claus in Waynesville. He will be dearly missed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and all who knew him. Funeral services 11 AM Wed. May 14 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Burial will be Miami Valley Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 10 - 11 AM Wed. at the funeral home.
