Alberta Lee Jones' Obituary
JONES, Alberta Lee, age 91, of Dublin, formerly of Waynesville, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Alberta graduated from Fairmont West High School, class of ’69. She was a school bus driver for Wayne Local School District. In addition, she assisted with the school's food and was on the school board, volunteered for several years at Quaker Heights Nursing Home in Waynesville, and worked for 30 years at Cincinnati Milacron until she retired in the late 1990s. She also found time to volunteer, serving as the President of the Waynesville PTO, as a Cub Scout leader, and for the Board of Elections.
Gentle, caring, and loving, Alberta was known for her sweet personality, but had a feisty side as well. She loved being involved in her children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren’s lives. An avid sports fan, she cheered for the Cincinnati Reds, and her children’s teams. She relished family get-togethers, telling stories to the grandchildren, and swimming at the pool. During her younger years, she was well known for her skills on water skis. Traveling was another one of her favorite hobbies. She traveled through Europe and Germany, took several cruises, and admired Florida and trips out west.
Among many things, she will be remembered for her deep faith and the love and pride she had in her family. She greatly enjoyed singing in the choir at Ridgeville Christian Church, and she was currently a member of the New Freedom Church in Lebanon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, in 2013; son, Michael (Jolene) Jones; son-in-law, Jim Bishop; parents, W. Albert and Pauline Brannock; and her brother, William Brannock. She is survived by her two sons, Steven (Marla) Jones and Bruce (Tisha) Jones; two daughters, Frances Bishop and Sandra (Scot) Borgerding; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister-in-law, Barbara Brannock; her niece, Fance and her daughter; and numerous cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. The funeral service will be at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Joe Shutts will officiate the service, and burial will be at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. If desired, contributions may be made to New Freedom Church. Condolences are at www.stubbsconner.com.
