Andrew Churko's Obituary
CHURKO, Andrew S. age 91 of Waynesville passed away Wed. Oct. 31, 2012. He graduated from John Brown University in Arkansas and was a WWII Army veteran. Mr. Churko retired from Wayne Local Schools in 1977 after nearly 30 years of teaching. He retired a second time from the US Postal Service with nearly 10 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Waynesville, Gideons International, Waynesville American Legion, Waynesville Chamber of Commerce, charter member of the Waynesville Lions Club, and was a former mayor of Waynesville. He was active in the amateur radio club and MARS - K8IOW. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth in 1994, his parents John and Katy Churko, and his sister Margaret Kiss. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Jane and Michael Jones, two grandchildren Betsy and Adam Jones, one brother Paul Csurko, and two sisters Rose Sohasky and sister Lawrence. Funeral services 10:30 AM Mon. Nov. 5 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Interment Miami Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Sun. at the funeral home.
