Angene Raid's Obituary
RAID, Angene, age 81, of Miamisburg and formerly of St. Augustine, FL, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Otterbein Lebanon.
Angene graduated from Villa Maria Academy in Erie, PA. She owned her own house cleaning business for several years, but her true joy came from being devoted to her family and raising her children. She was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Parish in Springboro. She was proud to be a member and a volunteer of the Catholic Social Services, mainly because it allowed her to have the opportunity to foster children that were waiting to be adopted. In addition, she also regularly donated blood for years.
Growing up in Erie, PA, Angene learned that living on Lake Erie was the snow belt of America, so as you can imagine, she loved traveling to warmer weather. When she was little, her family would take a Sunday drive to Presque Isle and enjoy the beach and relaxing afternoons. She made it a family tradition to travel to Florida when the kids were younger every year. Florida provided some of her favorite things, family time, ocean views, and traveling. She would also regularly travel to the East Coast to visit family. Eventually, she moved to St. Augustine, Florida, and lived there for ten years.
Always full of zest, vigor, and independence, Angene had a huge heart and was very loving and giving. Her husband, Martin, and Angene were part of a bowling league for numerous years. She also enjoyed crocheting and creating gardens full of flowers, vegetables, and rocks. She was a home decorator that loved doing improvements herself, and she would strip wood and create basic home updates. Angene was an avid reader, especially mysteries, crimes, and romance novels by Danielle Steel. Among many things, she will be remembered for her appreciation of family values and traditions, including supper. She was an excellent cook and well known for her baking, cooking, and canning, but her specialty was rice-a-roni casserole.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, in 2014 and her parents John Bauschard and Gertrude (Stephen) Lukasik. She is survived by one son Martin “Bubba” Raid; three daughters Bonnie Hough, Jeanette Raid, and Michele (Douglas) Evans; nine grandchildren Alanna Soffa, William Soffa, Michael Soffa, Alex Soffa, Danielle Adamowicz, Shannon Adamowicz, Noah Smith, Brock Smith, and Samantha Raid-Keeler; seven great-grandchildren; one brother John Bauschard; and one sister Kathy Bauschard.
A graveside service will be held at 1 PM Friday, September 2, at Calvary Cemetery- West Mausoleum, Erie, PA. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
