Antonina "Nina" Angelena Mantia - Angi (Stoffregen)'s Obituary
MANTIA-ANGI (STOFFREGEN), Antonina “Nina” Angelena, age 85, of Dayton passed away Friday, February 1, 2019 at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant Nursing Home.
Nina graduated from Chaminade Julienne Catholic High School in Dayton and attended Church of the Incarnation in Centerville. She was involved with the West Carrolton VFW and would often bring cookies to the VA. She had six children by birth but was a mother to more than 20 others, as she was known for adopting everyone. Nina was very proud of her Italian heritage and greatly enjoyed sharing it with family and friends through cooking. She would make big Italian meals that included homemade sauce and pasta and would have everyone over on Sunday for dinner. Her favorite holiday was Christmas because it was a time that family would come together and share an assortment of different Italian foods. It wasn’t just a dinner, it was a feast. Nina cherished these occasions as she loved huge family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Many will remember Nina as the vivacious, beautiful, and incredibly caring person that she was, and her family will forever cherish the many memories and traditions that she passed down to them.
She was preceded in death by her three husbands, James Stoffregen Sr., Jesse Cullison Sr., and Bill Angi; two sons Steve “Bebo” Stoffregen and Matthew Stoffregen; and her parents Joseph and Josephine Mantia. She is survived by her children, Angi Maloney, James (Michelle) Stoffregen, Cathy Hodges (David), and Julie Storaci; three stepsons Jesse (Christine) Cullison Jr., Rick Cullison, and Patrick Cullison; ten grandchildren, Aaron Schmalenberger, Nina (Gerhard) Gomez, Natalie (Matt) Kauffman, Rachel (Jared) Key, Trevor Stoffregen, Stephanie (Josh) Nichols, Jocelin Hodges, David Hodges, Matt Carroll (Ashley), Morgan Storaci (Josh), and Chris (Alicia) Faulkner; thirteen great grandchildren Casey Bartevian, Luciana Gomez, Lainey Kauffman, Everley Kauffman, Zoe Key, Ella Key, Joy Key, Brooklin Nichols, Caroline Nichols, Nora Carroll, Jasmine Faulkner, Chloe Faulkner, and Naya Faulkner; two brothers Bartolo (Lauise) Mantia and Antonio (Diane) Mantia; and two nieces Lorna Jahn and Teresa “Tess” Augustine.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Sat. Feb. 9, 2019 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 7:00 PM. If desired, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
