April Alane Koester's Obituary
KOESTER, April Alane, age 70, of Harveysburg, passed away in no pain on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Beavercreek Post Acute, surrounded by her family.
April dedicated more than 20 years of her life to caring for others as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) at Ohio Living Quaker Heights in Waynesville. Her work reflected who she was at heart: compassionate, dependable, and always willing to give of herself. During her time at Quaker Heights, she also served as a union steward with the Communications Workers of America (CWA), advocating for her coworkers and standing up for what she believed was right.
Creativity was a true joy in April’s life. She was incredibly crafty and could take on just about any project she set her mind to. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and creating a wide variety of art projects, including mosaic work. Over the years, she also developed a love for collecting dolls, a hobby that brought her great happiness. April especially loved the Christmas season and cherished traditions such as candle lighting, which held special meaning for her. Above all, April cherished her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and those moments brought her the greatest joy. She also adored her beloved dog, Tilly, who was a constant companion and a source of comfort and love. April will be remembered as caring, loving, giving, sweet, and loyal, with a gentle heart and a deep devotion to those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dewey McGuire; her mother, Alpha Hanna; and her sister, Alona McGuire. She is survived by her son, Justin (Gabrielle) Crosby; her daughter, Alea (Brandon) Shope; her seven grandchildren, Cecil, Iris, Lyla, Willow, Mitzi, Cora, and Story; her sisters, Janice Norvell and Darlene Silcox; her boyfriend, Michael Byrd; her beloved dog, Tilly; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7 pm on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Life Celebrant Brian Bennett will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Condolences at https://www.stubbsconner.com.
