Barbara S. Buckland's Obituary
BUCKLAND, Barbara S., age 76, of Waynesville, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022, at Indiana University Methodist Hospital.
Barbara retired in 2005 after working for over 35 years in the manufacturing business. She was a member of the Waynesville Community Church (formerly Waynesville First Baptist Church). She was always proud that she was the first person to lead the hospitality care team at church, which still exists today.
Caring, loving, outgoing, friendly, supportive, giving, and helpful, Barbara was extremely family oriented and liked to joke with others for fun. She greatly enjoyed camping, flowers, and travel. She often traveled with her husband during his fishing excursions to Canada, and they were visiting Mt. Rushmore several years ago when they lit the attraction for the first time at night. In addition, she always enjoyed traveling back to Jackie’s original home in West Virginia for visits, mainly to view the natural beauty of the hills and mountains of the northern Appalachian Mountains. Active in church, she also traveled during mission trips with the church to West Virginia and Alabama to build churches, where she often performed a lot of the cooking. She was a good cook, and her stuffed meatloaf will always be remembered fondly as some of her best. Over the years, she had a tradition of spending quality time with Jackie and the girls camping at Cowan Lake, which she always enjoyed. She loved the Christmas season and will always be remembered for her ornate Christmas villages that she liked to display in her home. Looking back on her life, Barbara was most proud of her family, especially her great-granddaughter, Jade, who she raised as a daughter, and for being able to live nearly ten years after receiving a double lung transplant.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tia Casada; her parents, Roger and Mamie Davidson; her brother; and two stepdaughters, Jodi Frantz and Cindy Buckland. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jackie; two sons, Roger (Teresa) Page and Kenneth (Sherry) Page; daughter, Brenda Casada; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; the special girl she helped raise, Gracie Hinkle; stepdaughter, Darla Buckland; and step-son, Richard Buckland.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 28, at the Waynesville Community Church. Bill Perry and Dale McCloud will officiate the services on Friday, with a committal service to follow in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends 6 -8 PM Thursday at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
