Barbara D. Dick's Obituary
DICK, Barbara D., age 72, of South Lebanon, passed away unexpectedly Mon. May 22, 2023, at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama.
Barbara retired in 1995 after 25 years as a waitress for Frisch’s Restaurant. She was a member of the Middletown Moose Lodge #410 and volunteered for five years at the Salvation Army. Over ten years ago, Barbara was saved, baptized, and gave her life to God. She became a member of the First Church of God in South Lebanon. She loved worshipping God and always tried to convince others to attend church with her.
She was strong-willed and often a firecracker, but she absolutely loved her family. She was always family oriented, would do anything for her family, and always put her family first. When her daughter, Betty, was sick, she stayed home and cared for her. She looked forward to the grandchildren visiting and the annual family reunions. Every year, she would cook the family dinner for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved the Christmas holiday and enjoyed giving and receiving presents. She enjoyed playing slot machines and bingo. She cherished the family dogs that meant more than just being a pet. She loved clothes and looked forward to the warmer months when garage sales and Goodwill’s would be in full swing for some great purchases. She enjoyed dancing, especially if she could dance to older country music.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Whitt; parents Edward “Ed” and Hazel Beverly; and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Curtis; three sons James Whitt, Matthew Whitt, and Curtis Lee (Tina) Dick, Jr.; three daughters, Sharon Howard, Lisa (Brian) Center, and Carla Whitt (Lance Wright); 14 grandchildren Eddie Bryant, James Bryant, Dylan Whitt, Austin Whitt, Ryan Howard, Lucas Whitt, Jasper Dick, Alexis Howard, Toni Howard, Maddie Whitt, Andra Whitt, Mila Whitt, Thalia Whitt, and Rylann Whitt; six great-grandchildren, Brantley, Harper, Elle, Aniyah, Liana, and Michael; one brother, Andy Beverly; three sisters, Brenda Ringwald, Thelma Ringwald, and Ada Johnson; one brother-in-law, Tom Dick; one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Johnson; and two very special friends whom she thought of as daughters, Jennifer and Laranda.
The family will receive friends 10 am – 12 pm Fri. May 26 at First Church of God in South Lebanon. Funeral service will be 12 pm Fri. May 26 at the church. Michael Cornett will be officiating the services. Burial will be at Deerfield Union Twp. Cemetery. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made toward the medical expenses. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
