Barry James Robbins' Obituary
ROBBINS, Barry James, age 62, of Waynesville, peacefully passed away Monday, August 7, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Barry graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’79. He was known for his hardworking, devoted personality and desire to always care for others. For more than 32 years, he worked at Quaker Heights Retirement Community as the head of the human resources department, but he also held many other titles while working there. He always created an incredible bond and empathetic relationship with the patients and built confidence with the families that they were well cared for when in his care. More recently, he has worked as a driver for Warren County Adult Services. He attended the Harveysburg Full Gospel Church of God for many years and has attended the New Freedom Church in Lebanon. He had a wonderful voice and would often sing in church. He had a strong faith and read the Bible regularly. He always told family members he was praying for them during their troubled times.
When he was younger, he spent a lot of time on his grandparent’s farm. Even though he was a city kid at heart, he loved being on the farm and even lived on the family farm for a short while. Barry had many cars. His first car was a 1967 yellow Mustang convertible. His current car was a black Cadillac DTS which was his favorite. Barry had a unique personality; he walked to his own beat of the drum. He was very strong-willed; he only did what he wanted to do. He was quiet with an honest and upright demeanor until he got to know the real you. When he loved, he loved you with his every being. He had exquisite taste and had a very well-kept house, which he was very proud of. He loved his two dogs, Piper and Cameo. He was always ready for a good time and loved to laugh. As a hilarious comedian, he would often imitate actors of Saturday Night Live. Being with his family meant the world to Barry, and he looked forward to every chance he got to spend with them. He enjoyed water skiing, growing up on Dale Hollow Lake, and going to his parent’s house to relax in their pool. He looked forward to all the holiday gatherings, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving when the family would come together and they could spend time swapping stories and laughing.
He is survived by his parents, James “Herschel” and Bernice Robbins; one brother, Rodney (Holly) Robbins; three nieces, Chloé (Brian), Claire, and Brynn; two nephews, Collin and Bryce; one great-niece, Carly; one great-nephew, Conrad; and a special cousin who was more like a sister, Darla Bolling.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, August 17, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Joe Shutts will be officiating. Burial will be at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. The family will receive friends 11 AM -2 PM Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to Miami Cemetery Association. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
