Belinda J. Dakin's Obituary
DAKIN, Belinda J., age 75, of Lebanon and formerly of Waynesville, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Optimized Senior Living in Lebanon.
Belinda worked at the Friends Home, Quaker Heights Nursing Home, and Lawson Cottage. She retired as the deli attendant of Ellis Super Valu in Waynesville. She was a former member of the Waynesville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 615.
Loving, caring, witty, sassy, and funny, Belinda was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Among many things, she will be remembered for how proud she was of her children. One of her hobbies was relaxing while watching the television. Some of her favorite shows included TLC, Discovery Channel, Food Network, Shark Week, Ellen, Dallas, crime shows, and soap operas. Notable movies she enjoyed were On Golden Pond, Sound of Music, and The Ten Commandments. Her other hobbies include playing solitaire on her computer, collecting arts and crafts, and riding her motorcycle with friends. Every year she looked forward to attending the Sauerkraut Festival. Going to her mother’s on Christmas Eve also became a tradition each year. During the fad, she became a big collector of Beanie Babies, and the Bettie Boop Beanie Baby was her favorite. She cherished her beloved dogs, Oreo (a doston) and Buttons (a poodle mix). The family will always miss hearing her voice and laugh.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Gracie; her father, Thomas Shadoan; one brother, Thomas “Tommy” Shadoan; and one sister, Rhonda Flowers. She is survived by her three children, Craig (Jeannie) Dakin, Tracey Dakin, and Kevin (Latisha) Dakin; ten grandchildren, Zachary, Samuel, Gavin, Joshua, Jacob, Madison, Kaitlyn, Madison, Oakley, and Skylar; and her mother, Carleen Shadoan.
Private services at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Somerset, Kentucky. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
