Bertha L. Anderson's Obituary
ANDERSON, Bertha L., age 94, of Centerville and formerly of Byrdstown, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, at Bethany Lutheran Village in Centerville.
Bertha retired from GM after more than 20 years of service to the company. She was a member of the Waynesville First Baptist Church.
Loving, caring, and independent, Bertha’s greatest joy in life was her family. Having grown up near Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee and living many years of her life near the lake, her favorite hobbies were boating, fishing, and spending time on and near the water. After her first husband passed away, she remarried and moved back down to Dale Hollow at Dale Hollow Estates near Sunset Marina. The years living near the lake, especially when family visited, resulted in some of her fondest memories. She also enjoyed feeding the backyard birds and squirrels and had a special place in her heart for the care of deer. In addition, she loved the Christmas season. For many years, she hosted Christmas Eve, mainly because her first husband and son couldn’t wait to open presents until Christmas day, which became a special family tradition. She was especially fond of displaying her dancing Santa each year, always feeling like it reminded her of her first husband when he danced. In addition, she was an excellent cook. Among many things, she will be remembered for her delicious chicken and dumplings and her green beans with cornbread.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dan Frogge, in 1986 and later by her husband, Walter Anderson, in 2008; her parents William and Ruth Henry; one brother Amos Henry; and one sister Edith Berkley. She is survived by her loving son, Charles “Chuck” (Joyce) Frogge; five grandchildren, Pam (Jim) Lipscomb, Michele (Tony) Audia, Chuck (Wendy) Frogge, Jeff (Angela) Harner, and Robert Frogge; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 5 -7 PM Wednesday, December 22, at the First Baptist Church in Waynesville. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 7 PM on Wednesday at the church. Pastor Dale McCloud will be officiating the services. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM eastern time, Noon central time, Thursday, December 23, at Laurel Dale Cemetery in Rugby, Tennessee. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
