Bessie "Pauline" Butler's Obituary
BUTLER, Bessie “Pauline”, age 84, of Lebanon passed away Thurs. Jan. 31, 2019 at the Atrium Medical Center.
Pauline was a Christian since 1958, a member of the Dodds Pentecostal Church for over 50 of years, and was known to practice what she preached. Giving, loving, congenial, and happy, Pauline could also be described as spunky at times. She was very family oriented and dedicated her life to her family. Through her babysitting, she also became a loving mother-figure to a multitude of other children. She greatly enjoyed cooking, quilting, gardening, camping, and fishing. She was especially good at catching crappies. Following her husband’s retirement, they traveled four times to Hawaii with her church. Those four trips, numerous trips out west, and the many camping trips to Big Bone Lick in KY, Cowan Lake, and Hillside Haven were some of her most cherished memories. She will especially be remembered for her delicious chicken and dumplings, homemade biscuits, and blackberry cobbler.
She was preceded in death by her father James “Jim” R. Bishop; mother Hazel Combs; five brothers Fred, Carlo, Adron, Jess, and Charley Bishop; one sister Georgia Meyers; and two best friends Geneva Carozza and Vivian Short. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Elmer; three sons David (Karen) Butler, Joseph (Donna) Butler, and Paul (Kelli) Butler; one daughter Diana (David) Sharp; nine grandsons Aarron (Kelly) Butler, Andrew (Alicia) Butler, Austin (Jenny) Butler, A.J. Butler, Kenneth Butler, Jonathan (Jessica “Jess”) Butler, SPC Matthew Butler, Joshua (Jill) Butler, and Justin (Amanda) Butler; ten great grandchildren Brianna, Brayden, Cody Ranz, Kensey Ranz, Nevaeh, Nehemiah, Molly, Trenton, Camilla, and Florence; two sisters Myrtle Mobley and Shirley Bishop; very special friend Keith Wilson; and best friend Estelle Sharp.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Mon. Feb. 4, 2019 at Dodds Pentecostal Church in Waynesville. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tues. Feb. 5, 2019 at the church in Waynesville. Bill Lamb and David Butler will be officiating. The burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin.
