Billy D. Hicks' Obituary
HICKS, Billy D., age 71, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. He was born Dec. 30, 1948 to Burnis and Verna Hicks in Prestonsburg, KY.
Billy served in the Army during the Vietnam War as a MP officer. He retired in 2016 after serving more than 35 years as a machinist in Dayton.
Hardworking, loving, and always supportive of his kids and grandkids, Billy greatly enjoyed basketball. He played basketball in an industrial league during his younger days, and found himself rooting on his daughter and granddaughter later on as a spectator. He also enjoyed attending most of the Waynesville Spartans girls and boys basketball teams over the years. The several trips to Gatlinburg with his wife was always a memorable time in his life during the younger days. Among many things, he will be remembered for how much he cherished all the crafts and creative things that his grandchildren made for him in recent years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Ed Frizer. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley; daughter Krista (William) Rowe; son Jarrod Hicks; two grandchildren Tyler and Ellie; and three sisters Carol (Bill) Brueggeman, Pam Fizer, and Malesa Smith.
Graveside services will be held 3:15 PM Monday, September 14 at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
