Billy Joe Preston's Obituary
PRESTON, Billy Joe, age 88, of Farmersville, passed away Sat. Dec. 15, 2018.
Billy Joe retired from Dayton Tire & Rubber in 1980 after 29 years of service to the company. He was a faithful and active member of the Corwin Pentecostal Church for 51 years. Among the many activities at his church, he formerly served on the their board of trustees and would often sing.
Kind hearted, honest, giving, and cool as a breeze, Billy could be described as quiet until you got to know him. He also enjoyed teasing some of his family members in fun. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing. He took great pride in teaching his children and grandchildren to hunt. In addition, he relished every opportunity to hunt with his close friends, Columbus Taylor and Troy Parker. His favorite fishing partner and best friend was Jim Foust. He appreciated the quality of a good Cadillac and loved pork chops, bacon, corn bread, fried foods, milkshakes handmade by his wife, and watching old westerns and the Andy Griffith Show.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Norma Preston; four brothers Escom, Marvin, Edgar Jr., and Claude Preston; and three sisters Rebecca Wells, Doris Davis, and Joyce Preston. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Minnie; two sons Billy Joe (Wendy) Preston Jr. and Charles (Pam) Preston; grandchildren Wes Preston, Jake Preston, and Zak Preston (Jamie); and great grandchildren Kiley, Eva, and Lilly Preston.
