Bob D. Rommes' Obituary
ROMMES, Bob D., age 69, of Waynesville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Bob graduated from Lebanon High School, class of ’75. He was very proud of his 20-year career at DHL, where he worked as a material handler, and officially retired from the company in 2010. He was a member of The Gathering Church in Centerville. He loved participating in two of the Bible studies while attending the church.
Quiet in nature, Bob was always very caring and loving. He could see where his loved ones were through an app on his phone, and he was always curious about what they were up to. He loved a good joke and had a good sense of humor. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and a fan of the Atlanta Falcons. During the warmer months, he enjoyed mowing his lawn. News fascinated him, and he always made an effort to stay current. He knew all about the weather and would regularly report to his family about current events and the weather forecasts.
Family was everything to Bob. He was always looking forward to various events that brought everyone together and was open to anything. Every year, he cherished the memories of tree trimming, playing card games, swimming during pool parties, birthdays, and, of course, all the holidays. He loved helping homeschool his grandsons. He valued the time he spent playing with his grandsons. They enjoyed playing with Legos, listening to his grandson play the guitar, playing with Ninja Turtles, and creating movies together. Every once in a while, you could even catch Bob coloring in the grandkids' coloring books. Among many things, he will be remembered for the love and pride he had for his wife, daughters, grandsons, and his family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Dorothy Willard; two brothers, Steve and Bill Rommes; and three sisters, Mary Blevins, Carol Age, and Linda Rommes. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Claudia; two daughters, Heather (Phillip) Boarman and Julie (Landon) Steiner; three grandchildren which were his “buddies”, Porter, Oliver, and Winston Boarman; two brothers, Brian (Janet) Rommes and Jay Rommes; and two sisters, Chris (David) Thompson, and Lee Ann (Tim) Williams.
Funeral service will be at 11 am on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home. Pastor David Rudd will be officiating. Burial will be at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to The Gathering Church in Centerville. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.stubbsconner.com.
