Brenda S. Stephens' Obituary
STEPHENS, Brenda S., age 71, of Oregonia and formerly of Harveysburg, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Miami Valley Hospital.
Brenda graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’68. She retired from Amtex in Lebanon after 30 years of service to the company.
Loving and caring, Brenda loved to laugh and joke around and never hesitated to assist others. She greatly enjoyed sewing, caring for her dogs, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Her sister was her best friend, and she greatly enjoyed activities with her, from playing scrabble, crocheting blankets, and attending yard sales and other venues in search of antiques. She visited Ormond Beach in Florida several times each year with her husband. The trips were sporadic, spur-of-the-moment trips that almost always involved the grandchildren. They stayed in hotels so the kids could swim in the pool, and they always made time each day to visit the beach to enjoy the sand, sun, and ocean. They also loved visiting the dog track while on vacation to try their luck at the races. She never forgot when they allowed their very young grandchild to assist in selecting a dog to bet on, which resulted in an extremely sad grandchild learning that he couldn’t take the dog home when his dog won the race.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Greg, in 2019; her parents, Hubert and Maurine Smith; and one brother, William “Bill” Smith. She is survived by two sons, Eric (Kelly) Stephens and Justin (Rochelle) Stephens; four grandchildren, Ryan, Shelby, Devan, and Cheyenne; great-grandson, Christopher; one brother, Junior Smith; and two sisters, Loretta Philbin and Pamela (Elwood) Pottorf.
A graveside service will be held at noon Friday, June 10, at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
