My wife and I first met Carl when first visited Dixie Highway Christian Center. Carl was one of the first people to greet us and right away you could sense the humble, gentle, kind man he was. Always smiling, always loving. When he talked to you, he would look you right in the eyes and genuinely ask you how you were doing. When you looked back into his eyes, you could see directly through to his beautiful soul. I LOVED it when he would wear his suspenders. We have a men's breakfast every month at Cracker Barrel and Carl would always order pancakes while the rest of us would order something else. Last week was our first breakfast without Carl and each of us, without mentioning it, ordered pancakes. We missed him to the point that we wanted to make it feel like he was there. Carl, we have all been so blessed to have known you and heaven is highly blessed to receive you. No doubt, when our Lord and Savior greeted you He said "Well done, my good and faithful servant, well done"

My name is Teresa Kersey and Carl was my uncle. His wife Juanita and my mom Adrienne were sisters. I look back fondly at the times that side of the family (Powell side) got together for various holidays and events to celebrate and gather and fellowship. Many times we went to our cousin's home in Lebanon, Ohio and there were so many of us, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc., it was almost like an orchestrated event. We would eat, play cards, play baseball or football in the huge back yard of the Weber family. Betty Weber was also a sister of my mom and Juanita. Uncle Carl was a kind hearted generous loving soul. I know he is rejoicing in heaven and for those of us who believe, we know we will see him again. I'm grateful that I have a continued relationship with my cousins Connie and Polly (Carl's daughters) as well as their extended families. My prayers and love go out to them. Uncle Carl will be missed.
