Carol was a workaholic, but she enjoyed what she did, which made a world of difference. She retired in 2003 from the Department of Energy as an Industrial Relations Specialist following 17 years of service. Upon retiring, she picked up the hobby of reading books. Some of her favorite authors were Harlan Coben and John Grisham. She was a big supporter of Vietnam Veterans. She loved to collect music albums. Her style of music had a large variety in it, particularly enjoying Jim Reeves, Alan Jackson, Ray Price, Josh Groban, Adele, and Whitney Houston. In addition, she enjoyed show tunes, especially Phantom of the Opera and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
During John McCain’s run for the US Presidency in 2008, Carol became active in the Republican Party, helping with McCain’s campaign. She made over 10,000 phone calls and drove in his Dayton motorcade. All her hard work paid off. She was recognized as one of the top volunteers for his campaign and was highly respected.
Carol always looked forward to family gatherings, especially during the holidays. She was an excellent cook and was well known for her apple pie, which she made from scratch. Among many things, she will be remembered for how proud she was of her five children and how loving and kind she was as a mother and grandmother.

Wilson; her parents, Guy and Leora “Mae” Rhea; three brothers, Gerald, Haldor, and Donald Rhea; and three sisters, Anna Katherine “Katie” Chamberlain, Ruth Davis, and Wylda McDaniels.
