Cathy L. Abner's Obituary
ABNER, Cathy L., a deeply caring Christian lady, age 70, of Franklin and formerly of Waynesville, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 at Kettering Medical Center.
Cathy was a faithful member of the Franklin First Church of God. She greatly enjoyed attending church and worshiping the Lord.
Cathy lived a life of compassion and was gentle, patient, and kind. She greatly enjoyed cooking for her family, and was known to exhibit love for her family through her cooking. Family reunions and getting her family together were very important to her and cooking was always a focal point. Her most popular dishes to prepare were jello cake and Hawaiian delight. She also enjoyed watching the birds in her back yard. She had a creative side and often painted nature, birds, angels, and landscapes. In her younger days, she enjoyed fishing trips with the kids and sharpshooting. She refined her skills in sharpshooting so much that she could shoot clothes pins off a clothes line from 50 yards away. The trips to Texas and the Smoky Mountains when she was newly married and when the kids were young were some of the most cherished memories that will be always held dear to the heart. In more recent times, she loved her husband’s “star parties,” which she advertised to friends on Facebook, in order to join the family in person to view planets and stars through her husband’s advanced telescopes. Among many things, she will be remembered for making everything special and making everyone feel equally loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dennis and Nancy Morgan. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bill; three children Cheryl (Rick) Lundy, Bill Abner II, and Jay (Jackie) Abner; three grandchildren Wesley (Linda) Hawk, James Riggs, and Rachel Abner; two brothers Danny (Betty) Morgan and James (Alberta) Morgan; and two sisters Dianna Jackson and Colleen Lamb
Funeral services will be held 12 PM Wednesday, May 20 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Mark Crider and Travis Jackson will be officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
