Champ C. Brown Jr.'s Obituary
BROWN, Champ C. Jr., age 53, of Pleasant Plain, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at Bethesda North Hospital.
Champ graduated from Little Miami High School, class of ’86. He served eight years in the Army National Guard and another eight years in the Ohio National Guard. He worked more than 20 years working as a CDL driver. He worked some of those years for ODOT as a plough driver, some more years for DHL driving a bus, and even more years driving for Warren County Community Services. He went back to school and earned an Associate’s Degree in Drafting & Design in 2015 from ITT Technical Institute.
Among several titles, Champ was a Sundancer, a drum leader, and Sweat Lodge leader for the traditional Lakota religion. He was an active spiritual leader in his religion and traveled all over the country participating in ceremonies. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially while camping, shooting guns, and fishing. His camping trips often coincided with some of his religious ceremonies. The camping he did in Friendship, Indiana, which held a festive flea market, was a noteworthy time that he always looked forward to with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina, in 2017 and his father Champ C. Brown. He is survived by three sons Champ Brown III, Dakota Brown, and Connor Brown; granddaughter Naomi Neri; his mother Beulah Brow; one brother Paul Brown; and his sister Janet (Jeff) Riddle.
The family will receive friends 2 - 5 PM Friday March 5 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. A celebration of life service will immediately follow the visitation at 5 PM Friday, March 5 at the funeral home. Kevin Johnson will be officiating the service.
