Charles L. Rye's Obituary
RYE, Charles L., age 93, of Lebanon and formerly of Waynesville, passed away Monday, October 7, 2019 at Otterbein Lebanon.
A lifelong farmer, Charles earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from The Ohio State University. Throughout his life, he farmed in Warren and Greene Counties. Earlier in his life, he was active in the Waynesville Lions Club and the Warren County Farm Bureau. He was also a former member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church.
Charles was an avid computer buff and greatly enjoyed traveling and photography. Along with his wife, they traveled throughout North America and Europe, documenting their travels with beautiful photographs. Their favorite travel location, and the place they spent their honeymoon, was Myrtle Beach, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Nettie Rye; brother Earl Rye; and his sister Gladys Rye. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothea; daughter Judith (Dru) Gilliland of Mt. Sterling, OH; son Robert (Jamie) Rye of Portland, Oregon; two grandchildren Charlene (Brandon) Snider and Maddie Rye; great granddaughter Chloe Ann Snider; and sister-in-law Patricia Rye.
