Charles A. Wells' Obituary
WELLS, Charles A., age 85, of Wilmington, passed away Sat. April 20, 2019 at Clinton Memorial Hospital.
Charles retired from Ford Motor Company in 2004 after 51 years of service. At the age of 19 he became a Christian, and started preaching the word of God shortly thereafter. He founded the Clarksville Pentecostal Church and pastored the church for 58 years. In total, he was a pastor for nearly 65 years.
Giving, kind, Godly, independent, and frugal, Charles was always optimistic and could always find the good in things. His favorite pastime was fishing, and over the years he and his family went on numerous fishing trips, his favorite being up to Lake Erie. Church was his life however! He was an active participant at the Pentecostal Youth Camp in Oregonia for over 20 years, officiating the 2:30 service each camp day. He was a a true family man and greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening and favored watermelons most of all. In addition, he always looked forward to his next new car. He always had top-of-the-line cars, a Lincoln Town Car being his ultimate favorite. He will also be remembered for the pride he took in his health, always disciplined and walking on a regular basis.
He was preceded in death by his wife Flora in December of 2018; his parents Dorsey and Lillie Wells; three brothers Courtney Wells, Freddie Wells, and Jerry Wells; and one sister Norma Brown. He is survived by two daughters Bonita (Danny) Flinders and Stephanie Wells; son Brian Wells; three grandchildren Shannon (Amanda) Bear, Daniel Flinders (Michelle), and Cheston Flinders; four great grandchildren Jacob, Bailey, Cole, and Abigail; one brother Donald Wells; and one sister Carolyn Sue Dick.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Fri. April 26 at the Clarksville Pentecostal Church. Burial will be in Clarksville Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 5 PM Thurs. at the church. Snacks and drinks will be provided at the Clarksville Pentecostal Church during the visitation and everyone is invited back to Kings Point Church of God in Maineville following the graveside service for a luncheon. If desired, contributions may be made to the Clarksville Pentecostal Church building fund for the fellowship hall. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family.
