Cheryl Ann Brothers' Obituary
BROTHERS, Cheryl Ann, age 80, of Morrow and formerly of Harveysburg, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 31, 2025.
Cheryl graduated from Harveysburg High School, class of ’63. She was the President of the Alumni Association for her class for many years. She retired from Big Bear in Lebanon as the Deli Manager after 20 years of service. Upon retirement, she was a caregiver for children (and especially babies) at the Countryside YMCA in Lebanon. Cheryl had a beautiful soul and was always there to help anyone in need; even when she didn’t have something to give, she would find a way to get it for them. She was very loving and loved and treated others as if they were part of her own family. She was extremely selfless and a caretaker of others for most of her life. Her personality traits are a testimony to the strength of her faith. Her faith was a core part of her life, and she was very engaged with her church. She was a member of the Community Christian Fellowship Church in Morrow. While at the church, she was very active in bible studies and youth programs. She especially enjoyed helping with the backpacks and the Halloween hayride for the youth group. She was always very active with the local food drive. She was also very happy at her home at Earl J. Magg Retirement Community in Morrow. She loved being part of that community, made friends with everyone there, and looked forward to decorating the main gathering room for Christmas.
She was a very talented sewer and crocheter. She loved to do alterations, create baby blankets and clothes, and she made superhero capes for all the grandchildren. Reading was a hobby she started enjoying from a young age. While in high school, she worked in the local library, and as she got older, her favorite genres were mysteries and romance. In addition, she enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles and collecting Fenton milk glass, as well as art created by her children. Cooking was her specialty—she was known for her warm kitchen and her delicious food. She was most well known for her incredible baking skills. Her yeast rolls, cakes, cookies, peanut brittle and fudge were some of her most cherished items by the family. During the Christmas season, she would regularly give peanut brittle and buckeyes to her church family.
Cheryl was very hardworking and always trying to find ways to bring the family together. Holidays were always spent together; she never missed a birthday and would always have a card ready for her loved ones. During Halloween, she would decorate her entire porch, dress up, and pass out candy. Christmas was always the big family holiday. She was selflessly generous and saved all year to ensure her family had a good Christmas. Cheryl created a cherished family tradition of playing Christmas trivia, hiding the pickle in the house, and she always had a box full of Christmas prizes for the winners. She had a tradition of always creating mystery poems where the family had to guess what she was trying to describe. She had many miniature Christmas houses and would decorate the whole house with them. Among many things, Cheryl will be remembered for the love and pride she had for her children and grandchildren, as well as her unwavering faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Sue Ann Carman; one brother, James Carman; one sister, Lorene “Lori” Monem; and her ex-husband, Edward Brothers Sr. She is survived by her two sons, Edward (Cherene) Brothers Jr. and Terence “Terry” (Betsy) Brothers; one daughter, Catherene Brothers; seven grandchildren, Megan Brothers, Jessica (Ricky) Redkey, Trevor Brothers, Logan Brothers, Markey (Ethan) Friedmann, Alex Brothers, and Lucinda Brothers; two brothers, Jon (Connie) Carman and David (Teresa) Carman; a special niece that she thought of as a second daughter, Aisha Monem; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and her special friend from Earl J. Magg Retirement Community, Norma.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, November 11, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Pastor Damon Hatten will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to Community Christian Fellowship Church in Morrow.
