Christine Elkins' Obituary
ELKINS, Christine, age 94, of Maineville and formerly of Lebanon and Middletown, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Hospice of Butler & Warren County, ready to meet Jesus.
Christine worked as an operator for telecommunications for many years. Her passion was writing stories and articles on her computer. Being witty and intellectual, she could easily write stories. She was very proud of having published a book, We Are Not All Moonshiners. She was also very crafty and enjoyed sewing clothes and purses. In addition, she looked forward to completing a jigsaw puzzle and seeing the finished piece. With her kind heart, she had a soft spot for stray cats and would often rescue them. She loved her cat, Daisy. One thing was for sure, she couldn’t get enough of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and her nighttime snacks. Among many things, she will be remembered for the love and pride she had in her sons.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alex Gilbert; her most recent husband, Donald Elkins; one son, Ron (Pam) Gilbert; grandson, Brandon Gilbert; her parents, Robert Bryan Combs and Hazel Combs; and two sisters, Doris Stubblefield and Beatrice Combs. She is survived by her three sons, Glenn (Janet) Gilbert, Bobby (Angie) Gilbert, and Billy (Virginia) Gilbert; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held 1 pm Monday, July 28 at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Chaplin Tom Myers will be officiating.
