Christine Rose Hart's Obituary
HART, Christine Rose (Smith), age 101, of Wilmington and formerly of Centerville, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at her residence.
Independent, proud, and humble, Christine was family-oriented, loyal, and kind. She greatly enjoyed playing cards with her sister and brother-in-law and shopping. Her favorite store was Rikes when operating at the Dayton Mall. She also enjoyed assisting her husband by canning the vegetables he grew in the garden. Her favorite hobby was reading, with mystery novels being her favorite type of literature. Being family-oriented, however, spending time with her grandchildren was always a priority. Caring for her beloved cats, Sheba and Babe, also made her happy. She loved to grow flowers, especially violets, to decorate the inside of her home with. She was an excellent cook and baker and will always be remembered for creating the perfect holiday dinners during Thanksgiving and Christmas. In addition, the family will never forget how good her scalloped potatoes, chocolate pie, and custard pie were, as well as her love of peanut butter cups and chocolate turtles.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband, David F.; her son, David Eugene Hart; her parents, B.G. and Annie Smith; two brothers, Ballard and Carl Smith; and four sisters, Maude Sharp, Jeanette McManus, Anna Smith, and Martha Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Michael) Pennington; daughter-in-law, Kathy Hart; five grandchildren, Jason (Connie) Hart, Brian (Brooke) Hart, Steve (Kara) Gasaway, Rick (Cheyenne) Gasaway, and Kyle (Kylee) Gasaway; great-grandchildren, Kelle Hart, Brett Hart, Julia Hart, Halley Hart, RaShauna Medley, Dakota Gasaway, Taylor Gasaway, Gage Gasaway, Addison Gasaway, and Kyndel Gasaway; great-great-grandchildren, Liam Fuller, Luka Hagerman, and Liliana Hagerman.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM. Thursday, March 21, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
