I knew Mr. Doster through the Waynesville Historical Society. He was such an interesting person to talk to. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. So sorry I missed the service.
I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Howard on a few stories for Farm Journal. He was a giant in his profession, a joy to be around and a shining example of how to live one's life.

My husband and I send our deepest condolences to the Doster family.
I am saddened that I never got to meet Howard personally, but it was through him that I became involved in my own family history. I am distantly related from my Oglesbee side of the family (my great grandfather lived in nearby Lumberton) which married into the McKay side long ago. I got to meet his beautiful wife Barbara and daughter Susan a few years ago at their historic home while searching our roots.
I grew up in Dayton and now live in Arizona and would someday love to come to the annual picnic. I wish I could have met Howard. He seemed an amazing family man and such a large part of his community. I am proud to have a small part of his DNA in my blood.

wow did not know all these facts about howard, great that he was so involved in farming , so little effort for the small farms today, he was always smiling even during his illness, only knew him on the ball field, played with & against him, he had a full life doing some very meaningful tasks, did not know about the baseball , but he did mention something about playing & I thought it was ohio state. dick pavlak, a senior teammate
