Dale L. Trainer's Obituary
TRAINER, Dale L., age 81, of Martinsville, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Miami Valley Hospital.
Dale graduated from Beaver High School, class of ’60. He attended DeVry University in Chicago. He was a dedicated, hard worker and was well-respected at his workplace. He was a construction supervisor for over 45 years and retired from the Shelly Company in 2007. He loved working in construction and was very proud of the many special awards received. He truly enjoyed the people he worked with; in his retired years, on the last Thursday of every month, he would travel to Adams County and have breakfast with his fellow workers from over the years.
He had a passion for gardening, flowers and especially vegetables; in the past year, he had 40 tomato plants. He would begin growing the plants in the Spring and meticulously tend to them through harvest season, when he and his wife would can and freeze everything, sharing with many friends and family. In addition, he also enjoyed fishing. He absolutely loved his Westie dog, Beau. He especially enjoyed Thanksgiving and Christmas with his immediate family. His granddaughters and great-granddaughter meant everything to him. He enjoyed watching them play sports and work with their horses. Among many things, he was very proud of being “Papaw Dale.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Woodrow and Dora Trainer, and one brother, Roger Trainer. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rita; two sons, Brian (Sharon) Trainer and Barry (Robin) Trainer; four granddaughters, Brianne Trainer, Brooke (Aaron) Mullikin, Brenna Trainer, and Tara Trainer (Timmy Mehl); and one great-granddaughter, Charlie; one brother, Don (Helen) Trainer, nephew, Aaron; two nieces, Angie and Amy; and special friends, Jake and Vicky Mullins.
