David Charles Cheuvront's Obituary
CHEUVRONT, David Charles, age 76, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Dayton VA Hospital.
Born on November 16, 1948, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, David was the son of the late Mildred (née Pritchard) and George Cheuvront. He graduated from Freedom Pennsylvania High School, class of ’66. David was raised in the Lutheran faith and remained a devoted Christian and a man of faith throughout his life. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a corpsman for ten years. Following his military service, he became a licensed optician and spent many years working for multiple optical organizations: Beechmont Optical, James Jambor and Association, National Vision, and The Vision Center at Walmart. He officially retired in 2019 after spending a lifetime in the ophthalmology field, which he was very proud of.
He loved the outdoors, cherished time spent in nature, and being in the woods was his happy place. He was an avid mushroom, deer, and turkey hunter. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed visiting Triangle Lake Archery on Sundays. Fishing was another passion of his. He enjoyed casting a line on a boat, from a dock, in a pond, or just about anywhere that he could. David always strived to get the “big one”. Over the years, he gained a collection of deer heads, turkeys, and fish to have on display. Camping and boating with his family and friends became a tradition. This tradition started with a tent and eventually evolved into having a camper. Some of their favorite destinations included Paint Creek, Norris Lake, Rocky Fort, Chesapeake Bay, Cumberland Lake, Lake Erie, Ena’s Way, and Caesar Creek Lake. Ena’s Way was a favorite turkey hunting location for David and his girls. “Mountain” hunting with the girls was always a fun tradition that many times brought the experience of also being able to witness many deer sightings and a few bears as well.
David was passionate and dedicated to those he loved and cared about. He always tried to help those in need. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Deborah Cheuvront, with whom he shared 41 wonderful years. David was very stubborn at times, but he will always be remembered for being a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. His warmth, kindness, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mildred “Millie” Cheuvront; sister, Mildred “Midge” McDole; and two brothers, George E. “Sonny” Cheuvront and Danny Cheuvront. David is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Cheuvront; his two daughters, Brenda (Greg) Muffler and Sunni (Rob) Richards; four grandchildren, Milena Muffler, Serenity Cheuvront, Faith Richards, and David Richards; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and three very close friends, Aaron Dynes, Mark Rousch, and Marion King.
A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Friday, June 6, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Pastor Debborah Ogletree from A Shepherds Rod Ministry will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 pm on Friday, June 6, at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to Ducks Unlimited or the American Heart Association.
