David "Dave" L. Forsythe's Obituary
FORSYTHE, David L., age 78, of Waynesville, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, at his residence.
David graduated from Springboro High School, class of ’65. He worked in the moving and storage business for over 30 years, semi-retiring as an operations manager. Even though a retirement party was held for him, he started working “part-time” at AutoZone, usually five days out of each week. He worked an additional ten years and became a valued and dedicated member of the “Autozoner” team.
Devoted, friendly, and kind-hearted, Dave was family-oriented and always willing to help and care for others. While extremely hardworking, he had a laid-back personality and loved to joke and kid with family and friends. With deep faith in God, Dave started each day by reading the Bible, and other devotional literature, to begin each day for encouragement, enthusiasm, and a caring mentality toward others that he obtained from the inspiration of God’s word.
Dave had a lifelong love of cars. Specifically, he appreciated classic cars, of which he owned a few during his life. In particular, he was always proud of a ’57 Chevy he owned and a ’72 Rally Nova that his wife drove. He was a big fan of NASCAR and the late Dale Earnhart, a driver who Dave always felt privileged he got to meet and get his picture taken with. In addition, he enjoyed supporting his friends who participated in the races at Kil-Kare Raceway. Dave’s other favorite pastime was fishing. He loved the serenity of sitting on the bank of one of the local lakes with his fishing pole in the water, often while reading a book and always with his wife by his side. When he took the time to relax at home, Dave loved to watch westerns on TV. In his later years, he had watched Gunsmoke so many times that he often watched with the sound off, mostly because he could recite the lines word-for-word, and because he loved creating new storylines for fun.
Dave enjoyed annual trips to Daytona Beach, which became a fond family tradition. They stayed at the oceanfront Aku Tiki Inn, walking the beach together at night after the cars had packed the sand down during the day. There was an Ihop restaurant across the street from the hotel, which they enjoyed almost every morning and often visited during lunch and dinner for convenience. Not found of the water, Dave often sat on the balcony watching his wife swim in the ocean with binoculars to ensure she remained safe. In addition, they often visited the boardwalk together, often resulting in Dave stopping in the game rooms to play the quarter games for fun. Among many things, Dave will be remembered for his relationship with God and his family, bound together by his insistence that all of his loved-ones have a relationship with God. He will also be remembered for the many dogs he cared for over the years, of which he was always partial to bigger breeds. His current dog, a shepherd mix he called, Bubba, was one of his favorites and will surely feel lost without him.
Dave was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Raynard; his parents, Charles and Gaynell Forsythe; and his brother, Larry Forsythe. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Rose; two daughters, Teresa Starr (Joe Cupp) and Angie (Mark) Moore; seven grandchildren, Katie Wilson, Korey Davidson, Keri (Kevin) D’Amico, Steven Edwards, Vicki (Brandon) Uhrich, Hunter Moore, and Cohen Moore; eight great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Mikey, Lincoln, Amelia, Kendra, Savannah, Lux, and Zach; and one sister, Judy Reynolds.
