Deanna Rice's Obituary
RICE, Deanna, age 57, of Clarksville, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, at her residence.
Deanna was born March 5, 1966, to Gene and Etta (Barrett) Rice in Wilmington. She graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’84. She has worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for the family farm operation for many years.
Giving, gentle, and always concerned for the needs of others, Deanna lived an organized life where she loved her house neat and tidy. She set an excellent example for others, always had a listening ear to those in need, and proudly served as the caretaker for many of her family members.
Spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored, was her highest priority. She loved the outdoors in the form of camping, gardening, and just sitting outside and enjoying the weather. She especially enjoyed preparing her homegrown sweet corn and green beans for the winter by baking and freezing them. Deanna was an excellent cook, and her family will never forget her delicious homemade barbecue ribs, which she made using Coca-Cola.
She enjoyed several traditions during her life, always involving family. Camping at Cowan Lake was a favorite activity. She humorously always left the adventures in the evening to sleep in her comfortable bed before returning each morning for breakfast and additional camping activities. In addition, she traveled each year in August while the kids were young to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for a traditional Smoky Mountain vacation, complete with chalet rental and all the usual fun with the popular tourist destination. She was a big sports fan, especially regarding her beloved Cincinnati Bengals. Recently, she enjoyed a trip to Hawaii with her daughter and grandchildren. Among many things, she will be remembered for always being insistent on checking the labels on food to ensure they were still fresh before serving. She will also be remembered for loving her little dog, Max.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Etta Rice, and two brothers, Keith and Dellus Rice. She is survived by her lifelong partner of 38 years, Joe Monnin; daughter, Allyson (Kyle) Aubry; son, Adam Monnin; two granddaughters, Addalyn and Anna; one grandson on the way; six brothers, Darrell (Pat) Rice, David Rice, Dorman (Brenda) Rice, Mark (Susie) Rice, her twin Dwayne Rice, and Phil (Vanessa) Rice; two sisters, Phyllis Smith and Joyce (Kenny) Naylor; her mother-in-law, Grace Monnin; sister-in-law, Beth Rice; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, February 23, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. Celebrant Brian Bennett will be officiating the services. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to the Nike Center in Wilmington. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
