Dennis R. Oszakiewski's Obituary
Dennis R. Oszakiewski, age 72, of Waynesville, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Kettering Medical Center.
Dennis recently retired after more than 15 years of service with Resurgent Capital Services. He approached his work with dedication and was known for his steady, dependable nature. He was also a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Waynesville. Dennis served one term as the Mayor of Corwin, a role he took great pride in as he worked to support his community.
Loyal, family-oriented, hardworking, and kind, Dennis was a man of reason, known for being helpful, thoughtful, and devoted to those he loved. He loved to ask questions and would often hold them back until just the right moment and then ask them all at once. Dennis was known as being the voice of reason. He looked forward to opportunities when he could help others, especially when it came to buying cars; he always negotiated with gusto. He lifted weights for more than 40 years, a hobby that was not just an activity but a personal passion. In addition, he enjoyed golfing with his brother. Earlier in life, he played softball as part of a work team, something he greatly enjoyed. Dennis valued history, always preferring the History Channel, which he exhibited during visits to his daughter in Texas, where they visited the Alamo. He also loved food—described as a “foodie,” some of his favorite treats included kolache cookies and potato pancakes. His family often gifted him fun coffee cups, which became a collection for Dennis and something he never hesitated to show support of - an example being a #1 DAD cup.
A Chicagoan at heart, Dennis never faltered in his love for his favorite Chicago teams—the Bears, White Sox, Spurs, and Blackhawks. As a true family man, he also looked forward to trips back to Chicago for his annual family trips and holidays, celebrations centered around family, food, sports, and time together. Of particular note, it was a family tradition for Dennis to travel with his brothers to the annual auto show in Chicago, a tradition he valued throughout his life and treasured. He also enjoyed visits from his daughters and the history and memories they shared.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lorraine Oszakiewski. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Nancy Oszakiewski; his three daughters, Megan (Alex) Reed, Kenya (Rick) Wehner, and Kelley (Noel) Tolentino; eight grandchildren, Brett Gadd, Hunter Gadd, Mitchell Gadd, Jazmine Wells, Danielle Wells, Abigail Reed, Madison Reed, and Samantha Reed; his three great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jordyn, and Jeremiah; his two brothers, Henry (Holly) Oszakiewski and Rich Oszakiewski; his sister, Donna Oszakiewski; and his two nephews David (Janelle) Oszakiewski and Brian (Molly) Oszakiewski.
