Donald E. Coffman's Obituary
Coffman, Donald E., age 76, of Waynesville, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Ohio Living Quaker Heights in Waynesville.
Donald was well known for being a Pentecostal Preacher’s Kid “PPK” when growing up. His dad was the pastor of Dodd’s Pentecostal Church for the majority of his life growing up. He was part of the first football team in Waynesville and graduated from Waynesville High School, class of ’67. He proudly retired after more than 40 years of service as an electrician with GM. He was the shop chairman of the IUE 801 Union at Moraine Truck and Bus. Recently, he had been attending the Fellowship of Praise Church in Clarksville and was very involved in the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries.
As a hard worker, he was a straight shooter and would always tell you what he was thinking, though he was a bit stubborn at times. He loved telling jokes, cutting up, and teasing the grandchildren. He loved sports and cherished the memories he made while coaching his kids' teams as they grew up. He never missed a sporting event at Waynesville Schools, and it became a running joke that they should spray a section of the bleachers because the whole family would be involved and sit in the same spot each time. In addition to watching the games at Waynesville, you could always hear him cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. The holidays meant he was playing his favorite games, especially Euchre. He was an avid hunter and knew the right spots for a big buck or mushrooms in the spring. He enjoyed attending auctions and gun and knife shows, and was always on the lookout for the perfect case knife. He had a sweet tooth for Kroger’s donuts, coffee, Coke, and chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Donald had a green thumb and was known for a meticulous yard. He was obsessed with mowing his grass and ensuring that his flowers were exactly 12 inches apart. Later in life, he could be found tinkering in his garage. Above all, he was never shy about saying how much he loved his family and was proud of them, a sentiment passed on to generations to follow.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Ann Coffman, and brother, Dan Coffman. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Pam; two sons, Dwaine (Mandy) Coffman and Rocky (Mindy) Burnell; two daughters, Stephanie Coffman (Greg Lynch) and Paige Burnell; six grandchildren, Logan (Carrisa) Clawson, Symphony Burnell, London (Gabby) Burnell, Cody Coffman, Olivia Coffman, and Dree Lee; two great-grandchildren, Isabella and Clayton; three brothers, Darrel Coffman, Dale (Judy) Coffman, and Jimmy (Kim) Coffman; and Deloris “Sis” (John) Pennington and Debbie Gabbard.
Funeral service will be at 1 pm on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Dodds Pentecostal Church. Matt Morgan and EJ Lamb will be officiating. Burial will be at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday at the church. If desired, contributions may be made to your Ohio Living Hospice.
