Doris Jean Lightle's Obituary
LIGHTLE, Doris Jean, age 92, of Waynesville and formerly of Chillicothe, passed away Mon. Jan. 8, 2018 at Quaker Heights Care Community, Waynesville.
Jean was born Sept. 17, 1925 to Karl and Virginia McGee in Dresden, OH. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Dresden, class of ’43.
She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Chillicothe, Chillicothe OES #419, Miami Chapter OES #107 in Waynesville, Southern Ohio Antique Auto Club, Chillicothe Widow’s Club, and the Chillicothe Red Hats. She worked over 20 years for Big Bear in Chillicothe.
Fun loving, outgoing, and comical, Jean brought joy to all those around her. She became well known at Quaker Heights for the positive influence and happiness she brought to the other residents and staff. She was also the ultimate mom, grandma, and great grandma. She was an outstanding cook who greatly enjoyed traveling, boating, antique cars, gardening, camping, and spending time with her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Glenn Lightle in 1994; three grandchildren Andrew, Steven, and Amanda Lightle; her parents; two step mothers Opal McGee and Marie McGee; and her sister Kathleen Adam. She is survived by her son Dudley (Cindi) Lightle; daughter Judy (Terry) Tincher; five grandchildren Jennifer (Gavin) Whitacre, Jessica (Reese) Brown, Kristen Starr, Courtney Smith, and Jason (Sarah) Hooks; eight great grandchildren; and niece Kathleen (Joel) Bradley.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wed. Jan. 10, with an Eastern Star service beginning at 8 PM, all at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thurs. at the funeral home followed by a committal service 3 PM on Thurs. at Grandview Cemetery in Chillicothe. Kevin Beck will be officiating the service. If desired, contributions may be made to the Quaker Height Care Community Activities Dept.
