Dorothy M. Brackney's Obituary
BRACKNEY, Dorothy M., age 86, of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at her residence.
Quiet, witty, caring, giving, and kind, Dorothy was the quintessential homemaker and loved taking care of her home and her family. Among many things, she will be remembered for how much she enjoyed going on ocean cruises. Some of her most memorable cruises included ones to Hawaii, Alaska, New England, and several to the Caribbean, but her favorite one was a Disney cruise with her grandson. On the ships, one of her favorite activities was trying to hit the jackpot by playing the slots in the casino.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Marilyn Brackney in 2019; one grandson Nathan; her parents Clarice Hayre and Mary Hayre; and her brother Donald Hayre. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, George; daughter and son-in-law Karen and Todd Haacke; grandson Luke; and her sister and brother-in-law Linda and Mike Baker.
A graveside celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Saturday, May 1 at Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
