Ellen Fox's Obituary
FOX, ELLEN MOSS, 83, died at her Warren County home June 19, 2008, after a short illness. Born April 23, 1925, on her parents’ farm between Waynesville and Lebanon, Ellen graduated from Waynesville High School (1943) and the University of Cincinnati Nursing School (1946). She spent most of her career as a registered nurse working for Drs. Brown and Hughes, ophthalmologists, in Dayton, retiring in 1985. An active community member throughout her life, she worked as a volunteer with such organizations as the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Cox Arboretum, U.C. Nurses Alumni Association, the Shady Ladies Wildflower Group and the Cincinnati Zoo, particularly its Center for Conservation and Research of Endangered Wildlife (C.R.E.W.). She was a member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church. Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Lyle S. Fox of Oregonia; a brother, William J. Moss of Waynesville; daughter Karen McCray and son-in-law Bill McCray of Beavercreek; son Jon Hartley Fox and daughter-in-law Kathy Barwick of Sacramento, California; grandsons Nick Verceles of Chicago and Brian McCray of Beavercreek; brother-in-law Marion Linder and sister-in-law Verdena Mardis, both of Dayton; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Hartley R. and Dena (Rich) Moss of Waynesville; and her sister, Mary M. Linder of Dayton. Memorial services 11 AM Sat. June 28 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Pastor Marty Roth officiating. The family will receive friends 5-8 PM Fri. at the funeral home.
