Ellen Lamb's Obituary
LAMB, Ellen, a caring and faithful Christian lady, age 80, of Waynesville, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023, at her residence.
A pastor’s wife, Ellen was a devoted 58 year member of the Corwin Pentecostal Church. She worked many years cleaning homes for people in the area.
Kind, loving, giving, and helpful, Ellen never hesitated to offer advice and was always protective of her family. She loved cooking, and was known to provide enough for her neighbors whenever she prepared a meal. She will be especially remembered for her delicious chicken and dumplings, manicotti, biscuits and gravy, peanut butter pie, and coconut cake. Known for always dressing with style and sophistication when going out of the house, she loved to go shopping, especially for new shoes or a new purse. Her go-to stores included Macy’s and Elder Beerman. Her other hobbies included working puzzles and sewing. For many years on a regular basis, Acy and Ellen traveled to Kentucky to visit her siblings, which she always enjoyed. In addition, it became a tradition for her to travel to Gatlinburg with her family. Family will always remember the many memories they made with Ellen while visiting the Dixie Stampede, the Pancake House, and Pop’s Catfish House. It was also a tradition for the family to gather Sunday after church for a home cooked meal. The Sunday dinners were important to Ellen, insisting that family continue to gather even when she was too ill to prepare the meal. She prepared for the meals on Friday by grocery shopping with her daughter, which became a tradition as well. Of course, it was her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that she was most proud of during her life.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Acy Wendal Lamb, in 2015; her parents, Hewie and Ida Mae Carpenter; two brothers, Jasper and Harold; and one sister, Delores. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Tracy (John Campbell); son, Acy Wendal (Crystal) Lamb; five grandchildren, Lindsay Ellen (BradLee) Lehman, Tyler Tracy; Acy Wendal Scott (Matty) Lamb; Courtney SuEllen Lamb, and Thomas Lamb; six great grandchildren, BaiLee, Tucker, Owen, Wyatt, Westyn, and Paisleigh; five brothers, Floyd, Therman, Raymond, Jack, Bentley, Charles, and Billy Joe; and six sisters, Rosie, Reba, Irene, Sue, Kay, and Teresa.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, February, 25 at the Corwin Pentecostal Church. Don Ingram, Ellen’s son Acy Wendal Lamb, Randy Brown, and Phillips Hoskins will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends 5 - 8 PM Friday at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
