Ellis D. Welch's Obituary
WELCH, Ellis D., age 70, of Lebanon, passed away Sun., Jan. 5, 2020 at his residence.
Ellis graduated from Waynesville High School in 1968 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Prelaw in 1972 from Wright State University. He retired after working more than 15 years as a fleet manager for the Joseph Brothers auto group in Cincinnati. He was also a successful self employed business man for 50 years, mostly in real estate investing. Ellis was a devoted member of the New Freedom Church in Lebanon and served several years on the board of trustees at Miami Cemetery in Corwin.
Highly intelligent with a good sense of humor, Ellis was a big kid at heart and a natural peace maker with others. He loved to make people laugh, was known to be a practical jokester, and had a warm and friendly demeanor that made everyone feel like he was a true friend. He enjoyed fixing, painting, and restoring old tractors in his free time. He also enjoyed NASCAR and collecting racing memorabilia, especially that of his favorite driver Dale Earnhart. He enjoyed the many trips he took to Florida over the years, visiting his grandparents in his earlier years and taking his mother to visit family in more recent years. He was also known to enjoy the social aspect of visiting with friends while dining out or having coffee with the guys at the Waynesville McDonalds. Among many things, he will be remembered for his love of chocolate ice cream and the twinkling lights and festivities that come during the Christmas season.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Caden Welch and his parents Charles and Marjorie Welch. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lorna; daughter Rochelle (Joseph) Perkins; two sons Brandon (Tanya) Welch and Chad Welch; four grandchildren Ryan (Amanda) Perkins, Lynsey Perkins, Asher Welch, and Zane Welch; and a vast array of aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
The family will receive friends 2:30 - 5:30 PM Wed., Jan. 15, immediately followed by a funeral service at 5:30 PM, all at New Freedom Church in Lebanon. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Thur., Jan. 16 at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Pastor Joe Shutts will be officiating the services. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
