Esther Rich's Obituary
RICH, Esther, age 92, of Morrow, and formerly of Oregonia, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Bethesda North Hospital.
Esther was a dedicated employee at General Electric, retiring after approximately 25 years. She was a long-time member of Oregonia United Methodist Church.
Loving, caring, and very family-oriented, Esther was a giver by nature. She provided in many ways, one of which being her excellent cooking. Her country-style meals were loved by all. Esther’s homemade pies, particularly her pumpkin pies, were often given out to family and friends during the holidays. One particular Christmas, she made as many as 30 pies. Thanksgiving was a special occasion for Esther, a time when she loved to host her family for an elaborate meal with the ones she loved most. Esther was also independent and appreciated time to herself. She found joy while working on crafts, crocheting, sewing, and tending to her flower beds. Esther created many fond memories through her travels. Autumn trips to Amish Country with the family became a special tradition for a number of years. In her younger years, Esther’s trip down the East Coast via Greyhound bus along with her road trip out west were a few of her favorite adventures. Among many things, Esther will be remembered for her love of strawberry milkshakes as well as her prized collections of thimbles, spoons, and decorated plates.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ellen Rich; one brother, Raymond Rich; four sisters, Juanita Redfern, Betty McCarren, Helen Rich, and Mary Henry. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Rich; two grandchildren, Kelly (Audra) Rich and Tina Cain; six great-grandchildren, Ava, Ireland, Michael, Lily, Craig, and Brian; one brother, Thomas Rich; one sister, Gladys (Marvin) Sullivan; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and close friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 10, at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Robert Metz will be officiating the service. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
