Evan Warner Augenstein's Obituary
Evan Warner Augenstein, age 21, of Lebanon, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Evan was born in Washington Township, Ohio, on July 9, 2004. Evan attended Springboro schools and graduated from the Ohio Virtual Academy in 2023. From a young age, Evan embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm, always eager to try something new. Evan loved being a part of the AWANA program at his church, learning Bible stories, singing praise songs, and memorizing Bible verses. During his grade school years, he participated in Destination Imagination and First Lego League and explored a wide range of sports. He enjoyed the experience and camaraderie each brought. Evan also spent a lot of time building Legos, a hobby he truly loved. He also enjoyed learning about American history. He was inquisitive, creative, and imaginative, often writing stories, drawing cartoons, and even creating his own board games as a child. Evan had a lot of energy and always tried to encourage others to join in games and activities. He wanted those around him to have fun.
Evan loved the outdoors and had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world, which carried over to his adulthood. He especially enjoyed taking pictures of sunrises and sunsets. He loved spending time outdoors by taking walks with his parents, playing disc golf, and staying active through fitness. Evan had a special love for animals, especially dogs, but truly all animals. He found joy in simple moments like watching hummingbirds at the feeder. He was fascinated by weather and natural phenomena, always eager to learn more.
With a polite, kind heart, Evan was known for his compassion and empathy. He had a genuine desire to help others and was always willing to lend a hand. Evan was fun-loving, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was especially known for his dry wit. Family meant everything to Evan. He loved spending time with them, especially on birthdays and family trips. Holidays were very meaningful, and Evan enjoyed learning about and creating family traditions. In his life, Evan was most proud of his family and the ways he was able to help others. Evan will be remembered for his kind heart, his curiosity about the world, and the joy he brought to everyday moments.
Evan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edwin and Alice Augenstein; his great-grandmother (Granny) Corrine Canter; his uncles and aunts, Paula (Al) Kluczynski, and David (Lora) Augenstein; and the family’s beloved puppy, Sadie Joy. He is survived by his parents, Steve and Julie (Wilkins) Augenstein; his brothers, Ryan Augenstein and Gavin Augenstein; his grandparents, Gary and Linda Wilkins; his aunts and uncles, Lois (Kevin) Huff, Sharon (Greg) Moran, John (Holly) Augenstein, Jennifer (Doug) McCune, Janice Gleich, Jill Kerns, and Mike (Felicia) Wilkins; as well as many loving cousins and extended family members.
