Evelyn V. Amburgy's Obituary
AMBURGY, Evelyn V., age 88, of Waynesville, passed away Tues. April 24, 2018 at Quaker Heights Care Community in Waynesville.
Sparky and strong willed, yet very caring, Evelyn was a faithful companion to her husband and family. She greatly enjoyed gardening, home decorating, flowers, and being a farmer’s wife. She will be remembered for her habit of always finding a reason to give a compliment and always being up for a fun get together with friends and family. She will also be remembered for her love of southern cooking, especially sweet potatoes and chicken.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; parents Frank and Virgie Ponder; two brothers Fred and Paul Ponder; and four sisters Nannie Ruth Durham, Jessie Richardson, Ruby Mahaffey, and Tevis Bryant. She is survived by her son Bill Durham; step-son Jeff Amburgy; two step-daughters Dr. Patricia Amburgy and Peggy Lynch; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two brothers Dell Ponder and Kenneth (Mary) Ponder; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM Fri. April 27 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin.
