Everett V. Lamb's Obituary
LAMB, Everett V., age 89, of Waynesville, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022, at Miami Valley Hospital South.
In his younger days, Everett worked several years selling cars at the Blanchester Oil Company. The next several years, he was self-employed by delivering water to people using his water truck. He ultimately retired after working nearly 15 years as owner and operator in harness horse racing. His horse racing work was mainly focused at Lebanon Raceway, in Latonia, Kentucky, and in Chicago, Illinois.
Everett greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching NASCAR, and flower and vegetable gardening. Tomatoes, in particular, were his focus in the garden, which he became known for growing by family and friends. In addition, he liked to can his own beets for the winter months. During the Beanie Baby frenzy, he collected many and traveled around in search of the best. His love for children, however, made him give them all away to show his care. He also enjoyed giving Hot Wheels cars to children as a gift, which he will be remembered for. It was a tradition for Everett to get up early almost every morning and start the breakfast preparation by getting old-fashioned oats going on the stove and brewing hot coffee, which he loved. He drank coffee all day, and it had to be piping hot. His favorite time of the year was Christmas because he always enjoyed when the family came together.
He was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Lamb; his parents, Sylvester “Syl” and Lillie Belle Lamb; four brothers, Russell, Joe, Wilbur, and Norman Lamb; three sisters, Geneva Osborne, Gladys Copas, and Janice Clark; and son-in-law, Perry Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty; son, Dave (Sue) Lamb; daughter, Susan Johnson; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Laura) Lamb, Holly (Steve) Vance, Rebecca Johnson, Kara Madison Johnson, Megan (Scott) Rothenbush, Kyle (Ashley) Lamb, and MacKenna Lamb; five great grandchildren, Jonas, Brendan, Kiernan, Aeyla, and Tristan; one brother, Ralph Lamb; and daughter-in-law, Trisha Lamb.
A graveside service will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, June 28 at Miami Cemetery in Corwin. Phillip Hoskins will be officiating the service. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
